Bounce Back With These Proven Resilience Skills
Life isn't always predictable. One moment you're navigating daily frustrations π§, and the next, you're facing unprecedented challenges. How we react, adapt, and move forward is the essence of resilience. Whether you're facing the ordinary hurdles of life or grappling with overwhelming adversities, resilience skills are key π.
List #1: Building Blocks for Bouncing Back
This list is for everyone, especially those facing regular life challenges that can sometimes feel (Eeek!) π± tough to tackle.
Set Clear, Challenging Goals:
Define what you want - be specific
Continually push yourself by setting new, small but progressively more challenging goals.
Develop a Growth Mindset π±:
View failures as stepping stones, not stumbling blocks. Itβs how we learn π.
Dive into continuous learning about perseverance and resilience. Read one of my favorite perseverance stories here.
Train Under Adverse Conditions πͺ:
Train and then over-train harder than the actual event, be it physical or mental. This creates muscle memory in the mind. It will be there when you need it π§ .
Seek Social Support:
Mentorship can guide you. Make a list RIGHT NOW of possible people who can mentor you. Have at least two? Now, shoot each one a quick text and ASK THEM to join you in your comeback π.
A robust support system is your cheer squad in tough times. Who are your ride-or-dies? π€π€
Prioritize Self-Care and Reflection:
Balance push-ahead with pauses - just for now. YOUR Recovery is paramount. Stop helping other people as much until youβre up and going a bit more π.
Mindfulness and journaling can be your navigation tools through challenges. Keep this simple. Do you know how you lose yourself in music or gardening? This is mindful meditation. Do more of this π΅π».
List #2: The 911 Life Problems Skillset π¨
This is my special TLC triage list, designed for those who are weathering particularly severe storms β.
Acceptance & Adaptation π:
Recognize changes and adjust. The new normal may be challenging, but it's the reality. An βIIWIIβ (It is what it is) mindset can help with this.
Acknowledge Your Feelings β€οΈ:
Give yourself moments of reflection without judgment. Also, allow yourself some βProblem-freeβ time to NOT think about all the sh*t that has just gone down. Your mind and heart need a break β³.
Simple affirmations can bring comfort, such as βIt is what it is,β βI got this,β and βJust do one thing.β
Create a Simple Routine:
Begin with the basics. This establishes a sense of normalcy. Make your bed, brush your teeth, and take a shower. Awwww, there, you got this! π€π¦·πΏ
Stay Connected in Small Ways π¬:
A brief conversation can make a world of difference. Phone a friend, text a teammate, chat with a neighbor. Your brain on connection = Y.U.M.M.Y π.
Pen your feelings if speaking feels overwhelming. Itβs OK to make really dark art, paint the crazy, and write the bleak night of your soul. Just GET IT OUT OF YOU.
Prioritize Self-Care in Small Measures π:
Find pockets of relaxation. Pups and kitties help! πΆπ±
Focus on essential well-being: sleep and nutrition. EAT. PRAY. LOVE ππβ€οΈ.
Seek Gentle Support:
Professionals can offer tailored coping techniques. Call meβ¦507-319-9348 π
Find strength in shared experiences through support groups. Youβre gonna need some homies - may I suggest finding peeps who get it? π€
The Challenge Ahead & Your Call to Action.
Life's curveballs, both big and small, don't have to define us. They might redirect us, and reshape us, but with resilience, they won't defeat us π.
Take a moment today to identify which list resonates more with you right now. Use it as your guiding star π . And if you find these strategies valuable, share them. Pass the knowledge forward. In doing so, we create a community armed with the skills to not just survive but thrive ππ‘.
